Early studies on low carb high fat intake were quite low in quality, especially around “acclimatisation” to it. You need to adapt for much longer when switching regimes, and especially if you are looking to see changes in how glycogen and fat metabolism are affected.

Consider testing and adapting to a MINIMUM amount of carbohydrates during competition. Not only does it decrease the stress on your digestive system (AND your packed weight!), but it allows you to improve your fat metabolism and thus your TRUE long endurance!
