Show Notes

  1. Remember that fitness isn’t the same as performance. Pete highlights that even in elite motorsport and skiing, being the fittest doesn’t guarantee being the fastest or most effective. Instead, success depends on understanding the specific performance demands of your sport,  and aligning training, recovery, and psychology with that context.
  2. Don’t overlook emotional control and integrity as performance skills. Pete’s work with Formula One drivers and Olympic athletes shows that maintaining composure under pressure and building trust within multidisciplinary teams are what separate good athletes from great ones. Coaching isn’t just about data, it’s about guiding behaviors that hold up in high-stakes environments.
