Professor Aaron Coutts PhD

Distinguished Professor of Sport and Exercise Science | Discipline Lead - Sport and Exercise Science | Director - Human Performance Research Centre | Faculty of Health, University of Technology Sydney


Aaron is a Distinguished Professor in Sport and Exercise Science and Director of the Human Performance Research Centre at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Aaron’s research has focused around developing evidence-based methods for improving performance and health of athletes. Most of this work his work been on developing systems to measure, monitor and control the training process and understand performance in team sport athletes.  He has published more than 200 peer reviewed articles and is an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance and Science and Medicine in Football. Further to his academic work, Aaron also provides sport science advice to several of the leading sporting organisations and government agencies.  He is currently the Sport Science Consultant to the Carlton Football Club. Aaron is also a Director of Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) and a member of the Nike Sport Research Laboratory Advisory Board.
